Volkswagen has added another all-wheel drive version to its all-electric ID.4 product line: the ID.4 Pro 4MOTION, equipped with a system power of 195 kW/265 PS and offering a range of up to 321 miles (517 kilometers).
The more powerful Pro variant model features a second electric motor on the front axle to transfer power to the road through the all-wheel drive system, offering more traction in wet, snowy, or gritty ground conditions.
The Pro 4MOTION “is positioned exactly between the efficient and comfortable ID.4 models with rear-wheel drive and the sporty ID.4 GTX 4MOTION flagship model,” explains Silke Bagschik, head of sales and marketing for the carmaker’s ID. e-product line.
The new variant is powered by a 77-kWh battery with a maximum charging capacity of 135 kilowatts. At a charging stop, the high-voltage battery can be charged from 5% to 80% in 36 minutes.
The ID.4 uses the architecture from Volkswagen’s modular electric drive matrix (MEB), creating an interior room capacity comparable to conventional SUVs in the next-higher category, according to the automaker. Depending on the position of the rear seat backrests, the luggage compartment boasts a capacity from 17 to 56 cubic feet (543 to 1,575 liters). Several latest-generation driver assist systems options are available.
Produced in Zwickau and Emden, Germany, Volkswagen’s all-electric models are manufactured in a carbon-neutral manner over the entire supply and production chain. If the ID. models are charged with sustainably produced electricity, they also remain climate-neutral on the road.
