Uber, VW Partner with Nvidia for Development of Autonomous Tech
Nvidia is partnering with Uber for the continued development of autonomous vehicle technology, as the graphics chipmaker expands its artificial intelligence platform for self-driving cars partnerships.

Uber and Volkswagen are partnering with artificial intelligence specialist Nvidia Corp. for the continued development of autonomous vehicle technology, the companies said.
Nvidia technology is helping Uber’s fleet of self-driving vehicles perceive the world and make split-second decisions, said Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang, according to Reuters. Meanwhile, Volkswagen will use Nvidia’s Drive IX platform, which enables “intelligent co-pilot” capabilities, in some of its upcoming vehicles, including the I.D. Buzz electric bus.
Nvidia has already partnered with Tesla and China’s Baidu for the continued development of self-driving cars.
Uber plans to use the technology in its developing self-driving fleet of Volvos and the company’s autonomous trucks, noted the Verge.
Uber has been using Nvidia’s GPU computing technology since its first test fleet of Volvo SC90 SUVS were deployed in 2016, report Reuters.
