Toyota and Suzuki’s collaboration to supply vehicles for India has expanded to Africa and other markets, according to Toyota.

Both automakers are discussing new joint projects in the fields of technological development, vehicle production, and market development, according to a release. This builds upon a previously established memorandum of understanding in February 2017 for the mutual supply of vehicles for the Indian market and other joint efforts; the two companies have been broadening the scope of their partnership.

The automakers will employ both Toyota and Suzuki sales networks to sell vehicles, and advance cooperation in the areas of logistics and services. Toyota Kirloskar Motor Private will also produce models developed by Suzuki for sale in India through both the Toyota and Suzuki brand networks.

Also announced was Toyota’s plan to provide Suzuki with technological support for the development of a compact, ultra-high-efficiency powertrain.
