The past two decades have seen the digitization of vehicle instrument panels, so much so that most of today's vehicles have fully digital panels. Unfortunately, digital technology is not without its downsides.
According to a recent press release, Toyota has issued a voluntary safety recall involving the following models:
Toyota
Venza
Crown
Crown Signia
GR Corolla
4Runner
Camry
Grand Highlander
Tacoma
Highlander
Lexus
LS
RX
TX
Approximately 591,000 vehicles are involved in this campaign in the U.S.
The recall is due to the 12.3-inch display of the instrument panel being blank on startup. Operating the vehicle with a blank display inhibits the driver's ability to see any possible malfunction indicators.
If the screen blanks while driving, it could lead to an increased risk of a crash or injury in the event of a crash.
Toyota and Lexus dealers will inspect and update the programming of the combination meter, or replace it with an improved one, for all vehicles involved.
Toyota will notify customers by mid-November 2025.
