Toyota Recalls 2019 Sienna and Yaris
The automaker is recalling an estimated 270 2019 Sienna minivans, and approximately 43,000 Yaris sedans and hatchbacks.

Toyota is also recalling approximately 43,000 Yaris Liftback & Hatchback vehicles equipped with side airbag sensors in each of the front doors and wire harnesses that connect these sensors to the airbag control unit because the harnesses could corrode over time, triggering the airbag warning light to turn on.

Toyota is conducting two separate safety recalls of its Sienna minivan and Yaris liftback and hatchback sedans.
The automaker is recalling an estimated 270 2019 Sienna vans because a component of the passenger side front doors may not have been properly welded during the manufacturing process. This could affect an airbag system sensor and possibly cause non-deployment or inadvertent deployment of the passenger side front seat and curtain shield airbags.
This situation can increase the possibility of a crash and/or the risk of an injury.
To fix the problem, Toyota will notify owners by the middle of June, and dealers will replace the passenger side front door sub-assembly with a new one, at no cost to owners.
Toyota is also recalling approximately 43,000 Yaris liftback and hatchback sedans equipped with side airbag sensors in each of the front doors and wire harnesses that connect these sensors to the airbag control unit because the harnesses could corrode over time, triggering the airbag warning light to turn on. Also, the front seat side airbags and curtain shield airbags could be deactivated or fail to deploy properly.
In the event of a crash, non-deployment or improper deployment of airbags increases the likelihood of injury.
To remedy the matter, Toyota will notify owners by mid-June, and dealers will replace the wire harnesses in one or both doors, as necessary, at no cost to owners.
Owners may reach Toyota customer service at (800) 331-4331.
