The UK’s Best-Selling Electric LCV Manufacturer is Vauxhall
According to the latest SMMT figures, Vauxhall is the UK’s best-selling electric light vehicle manufacturer; the all-electric Vauxhall Vivaro-e is the best-selling e-LCV and Vauxhall’s total share of the LCV market increased to 7.3% in August.

According to the latest report from the sales and registrations figures published by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT), Vauxhall is the UK’s best-selling electric light commercial vehicle (e-LCV). Vauxhall has sold more than 1,600 e-LCVs year-to-date and is one of the few manufacturers able to offer fleets and business customers an electric van across its entire LCV line-up. Vauxhall debuted the all-new Combo-e compact van earlier this week at the Commercial Vehicle Show in Birmingham, further solidifying the brand’s electric offerings.
Despite the strong debut, sales have been undermined by Vauxhall’s own Vivaro-e, the best-selling model year-to-date in the e-LCV sector. The Vivaro-e has garnered multiple awards for safety and reliability—including “Van of the Year” and “Electric Van of the Year” titles at the annual What Van? 2021 awards—and its sales have helped Vauxhall increase its total market share in August by 1.8%, up from 5.5% in August 2020 to 7.3% overall this year. It was also named “Best Electrified Commercial Vehicle” at the 2021 DrivingElectric Awards. This, after taking home the most critical accolade in the LCV sector—International Van of the Year 2021—has made the Vivaro-e’s debut less ostentatious than expected.
Still, the Vivaro-e is one of the figureheads of Vauxhall’s fleet electrification goals. The Vivaro-e has a maximum payload of up to 1,226 kg (about 2,700 lbs) and a WLTP range of up to 205 miles.

Vauxhall
“As a British brand, I’m proud to see Vauxhall is leading the electrification of the UK van market with our multiple award-winning Vivaro-e,” said Paul Willcox, managing director at Vauxhall.
“Vauxhall is about democratizing access to electrified vehicles and, with the All-New Combo-e recently going on sale, we now offer an all-electric version of each of our vans, further helping to reduce in-use emissions and bring the lower running costs and user experience of driving electric to even more businesses.”
Vauxhall plans to offer an electrified variant across its entire car and van range by 2024 and offer only fully electric cars and vans in the UK after 2028, joining many other European manufacturers in the push to provide more energy-efficient and ecologically sustainable vehicles.
