Tesla unveiled a battery-electric, midsize SUV called the Model Y that will feature a minimum driving range of 230 miles and will be available at a starting price of $39,000.

The Model Y is a seven-seat SUV that will be offered in four variants, including standard range, long range, dual-motor all-wheel drive, and performance variants, according to Tesla. The standard range battery variation offers the aforementioned base range, while the Model Y Long Range will reach 300 miles on a single charge.

The powertrain and motor of the battery-electric SUV will provide 0-60 mph acceleration in as little as 3.5 seconds and a top speed of up to 150 mph, according to a release. It features a panoramic glass roof, and will be able to offer 66 cubic feet of storage space. Similar to the Model 3, the Model Y does not require keys and entry to the vehicle is done via smartphone.

It is also compatible with our current Supercharger network of more than 12,000 Superchargers in 36 countries, as well as our new V3 Superchargers which can charge at rates up to 1,000 miles per hour.
