Fleet activity in the U.S. ended the week of Aug. 3, 2020 at peak levels not seen this year since February 2020, which also spiked through some of July, reflecting a return to normalcy in the industry, as shown through telematics data from Geotab.
For the previous week on the whole, the overall percentage of fleet activity was at 95.08%, which was a slight decrease from the week prior, though increase through the week helped keep percentages higher, according to Geotab.
Most of the different industries whose activity data is being measured by Geotab has shown percentages that have matched February 2020 norms or higher, though certain segments are still finding their footing have seen minor drops in the last few weeks.

Business service fleets showed dips in activity to start the month of August 2020 after reaching peaks not seen since the beginning of March. The same was seen for healthcare services, though percentages are starting to rise again even if not matching February levels of activity.
Meanwhile non-freight transportation services fleets are still underperforming from levels of activity from earlier in the year and activity for energy and utility fleets have stayed mostly flat, maintaining averages just below peaks held in February.

Trade through North America last week was up 0.52%, reaching 96.45% of activity when compared to February activity. Activity between the U.S. and Mexico has maintained levels that have reached levels higher than averages in February. Activity between U.S. and Canada has not been as strong, but levels are finally on par with activity not seen since earlier in 2020.
