Subaru Recalls 118,723 Outback & Legacy Models
A capacitor in the sensors for the occupant detection system may crack and short circuit, which can prevent the front passenger airbag from deploying in a crash.
A total of 103,114 Outbacks from model years 2020 to 2022 (2022 pictured) were included in the recall, with the remainder Legacy in the same model years.

Subaru is recalling 118,723 Outbacks and Legacy vehicles from the 2020 to 2022 model years due to airbag issues. A total of 103,114 Outback models were included in the recall, with the remainder Legacy.
Reason for the Recall
A capacitor in the sensors for the occupant detection system may crack and short circuit, which can prevent the front passenger airbag from deploying in a crash, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) reported on March 27.
Dealers will replace the ODS sensors on the front passenger seat, free of charge. Owners can expect notification by mail starting May 21.
Subaru is aware of 253 warranty claims for the front passenger airbag issue, but has not reported any injuries or crashes.
