CHERRY HILL, NJ – Beginning this month, Subaru of America has joined forces with Interface to help Subaru further its progress toward its transportation-related sustainability goals in pursuit of Mission Zero. As a result of a common vision toward the environment, Subaru is partnering with American Forests to plant 60 trees for every car they deliver. This arrangement will offset the carbon dioxide emissions associated with driving the cars, making Subaru associates’ operation of the vehicles climate neutral. This partnership will help reduce greenhouse gas emissions associated with Interface’s light-duty fleet. As a result of this new partnership, Interface’s account executives will now have the option of selecting the Subaru Outback Limited Wagon 2.5i, a SmartWay certified vehicle, as their next vehicle of choice, when the current leases expire. The SmartWay certification, granted by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), is earned by those light-duty vehicles the EPA considers to be the cleanest and most fuel-efficient vehicles when evaluating both air pollution and greenhouse gas emissions. The decision to add the Subaru Outback Wagon Limited 2.5i to Interface’s Light Duty fleet was driven by the following factors The Outback provides an "environmentally friendly" all-wheel-drive (AWD) solution. The Outback is highly rated for safety, achieving a 5-star crash rating. In 2006, the Subaru Outback Wagon Limited 2.5i was the highest-rated small SUV by the EPA in its Green Vehicle Guide. The Outback Wagon Limited 2.5i’s standard features include: 175-hp, 2.5L Boxer Engine, symmetrical all-wheel drive, leather-trimmed upholstery with 4-stage heated front seats, remote keyless entry system, 120-watt 6-speaker audio system and 6-disc in-dash CD, dual-zone automatic climate control system, and panoramic-tilt sliding dual-panel moon roof. The addition of the Subaru Outback Ltd (PZEV) to its North American fleet will help Interface achieve its Mission Zero goal: "To be the first company that, by its deeds, shows the entire industrial world what sustainability is in all its dimensions: People, process, product, place, and profits — by 2020 — and in doing so we will become restorative through the power of influence." Additionally, every unit purchased by Interface involves a commitment to plant 60 trees in conjunction with American Forests. As a result, Subaru is offering a climate neutral driving experience for each unit in operation.
