NEW YORK - A Sunoco station in the Hunts Point section of the South Bronx is now offering B5 biodiesel to fleet customers, Biodiesel Magazine reported.
Tri-State Biodiesel LLC is supplying the station with the fuel. Tri-State Biodiesel collects waste cooking oil as a feedstock from more than 3,000 restaurants. Another company, Northern Biodiesel, actually produces the fuel using that feedstock. Tri-State Biodiesel then markets the resulting biodiesel fuel to stations.
Tri-State Biodiesel eventually hopes to offer higher blends of biodiesel, specifically B20, at the Sunoco station. The company is also exploring the possibility of opening its own stations.
