Renault Trucks is extending its OptiTrack range, a traction system that gives vehicles temporary extra pulling power. OptiTrack is available on the Renault Trucks C and can now equip most configurations used in the building sector, according to a release.

The French automaker has been developing OptiTrack since 2009 to increase a vehicle's pulling power while still controlling fuel consumption and maintaining a high payload using two hydraulic motors in the vehicle's front wheels. The new extended range covers many configurations, including 4x2, 6x4, 6x2*4, 8x2*6, and 8x4 (lefthand drive only). 

The driver can engage or disengage the OptiTrack system with the push of a button. It is operational from 0 kph and automatically disconnects when the vehicle reaches 25 kph. The system connects via an engine rear PTO, is associated with the Optidriver manual automated gearbox, and is now compatible with the Voith hydraulic retarder.

OptiTrack comes standard on Renailt Trucks C. It maintains a higher payload than an all-wheel drive vehicle, optimized fuel consumption, and a low chassis height for easier cab access and a more stable rig.
