SPARKS, MD - PHH Arval's president and CEO, George Kilroy, is a 2010 Baltimore SmartCEO magazine EcoCEO award winner. This award recognizes companies that are considered catalysts for eco-friendly practices and technologies in their industries and local community. The winners were recognized at a networking luncheon on November 19, 2010.
PHH Arval is proactive in its role as a corporate environmental leader in the automotive fleet industry. Under the direction of Kilroy, PHH Arval was the first fleet management company to introduce a formal environmental program for fleets, PHH GreenFleet, working with the Environmental Defense Fund to help companies reduce their environmental footprint. Companies that have fully implemented PHH GreenFleet see on average a 14-percent reduction in their fleet emissions and a 7-percent reduction in operating costs.
In addition to its commitment to helping clients reduce their environmental impact, PHH Arval has also led the way in reducing its own carbon footprint. In 2008, it joined the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's Climate Leaders Program; last year, it set a goal to reduce company-wide greenhouse gas emissions 12 percent by 2014. PHH has already reduced its electricity consumption by 20 percent in the past five years and obtained an Energy Star rating that puts the company in the top 25 percent of all office buildings in its class.

"At PHH, we know that going green is more than just a trend," said Kilroy. "Many of our clients have established aggressive environmental goals, so reducing their fleet emissions is instrumental in helping them achieve these initiatives. On behalf of PHH and our employees, I am honored to accept this award and look forward to continuing our eco-friendly practices and helping the fleet industry do the same."
