Petroleum Jobbers and Large Fleets to Gain Biodiesel Terminal near Long Beach
A new biodiesel terminal is available near the Port of Long Beach and the Port of Los Angeles for petroleum jobbers and large fleets.
Biodiesel producer and marketer Renewable Energy Group (REG) will sell wholesale biodiesel at a terminal location in Rancho Dominguez, Calif. REG sells an annual 210 million gallons of biodiesel at 22 biorefineries across the country, according to REG.
Under the supply agreement with Maxum Petroleum, who will operate the terminal, the terminal will offer REG-9000 biodiesel to petroleum jobbers or large fleets beginning in mid-August 2013. REG-9000 biodiesel is produced from natural oils, fats and greases and meets or exceeds American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) quality specifications for biodiesel, according to the company.
California consumed more than 3.5 billion gallons of distillate fuel in 2010, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration.
