Partnership Brings Easier Payment and More EV Charging Locations in UK
A partnership between an EV-charging company and a fuel-card provider focused on EVs will create access to additional charging sites across the United Kingdom and easy payment through a charge card and an app.

Paua’s charge card and app will now be allowed for payment at Applegreen Electric EV charging locations, greatly increasing payment locations for Paua customers.

A new partnership gives Paua customers access to Applegreen Electric's EV charging network across the United Kingdom, and significantly expands the availability of ultra-fast charge points and high-quality amenities available to them.
Paua Payment Accepted at More EV Charging Locations
Through the agreement, Paua’s charge card and app can be used at 500 Applegreen and Welcome Break's charging points in the United Kingdom and Ireland over the next 12 months.
Applegreen operates a multinational EV charging network with 800 fast charging bays across its operations in Ireland, the UK, and the United States and delivers more than a million fast-charging sessions to its customers each year.
"Paua’s intuitive payment options combining app, card, live fleet dashboard, and a full digital integration to Applegreen Electric will be a valuable asset to our business customers across our expanding EV network in the UK,” said Jack O’Brien, country manager UK at Applegreen Electric.”
Additional Ultra-Rapid Charge Points
The partnership will initially add more than 250 ultra-rapid charge points across 20 Welcome Break motorway sites in the UK.
The charge points will be readily available to Paua customers at Welcome Break and Applegreen services located along the major strategic road network arteries in the UK, spanning from London to Glasgow, Cardiff to Sheffield, and beyond.
These sites provide 24/7 driver support and within the next 12 months, a total of 500 charging points at Applegreen and Welcome Break locations in the UK and Ireland will be covered by the partnership.
EV Charging Demand in UK
Paua now has access to more than 43,000 charge points at more than 14,000 locations managed by more than 25 charging providers across the UK.
The addition of Applegreen Electric means that Paua drivers have access to what the companies said is the UK’s fastest charging network, with 73% of the UK’s high-powered chargers on Paua’s app and card all digitally integrated. Paua said it covers 85% of UK motorway service areas.
As of the end of 2023, the UK had 943,110 fully-electric cars on its roads, in addition to 64,530 electric vans, according to New Automotive.
