Opel will continue to sell assets in South Africa as the manufacturer transitions from being a subsidiary of General Motors to PSA Group.
At a recent Johannesburg media briefing it was announced that from January 2018 Opel brands would be sold through an exclusive network of 35 dealers, according to Independent Online. All current Opel warranties and service plans are also to remain in place.
The acquisition of Opel from GM to PSA Group is pending regulatory approvals. GM announced in May that it would halt vehicle production in the country by the end of the year.
Opel will still use GM's existing parts distribution centre in Coega, which will be owned by Isuzu Trucks following GM leaving the country.
The German car brand will launch the new Opel Crossland X in 2017 and the Opel Grandland X in 2018, according to the Citizen.
