OnTerra Systems has introduced a mobile app that offers lower-cost tracking and works with its RouteSavvy route optimization software, the Denver-based telematics provider announced.
The RouteSavvy Tracker mobile app displays driver location and history. Fleet managers can see the position of the vehicles by tracking a driver's cellphone. The tracking feature can be disabled on weekends or after hours for privacy.
The app shows the history of phone locations with a feature known as bread crumbs. Fleet managers can export data into Excel and compare a planned route with the actual route that was driven. The app has been optimized to reduce smartphone battery usage.
Drivers can download the new app on Adroid Play or via the Apple iTunes store. Downloading the app is free. The mandatory base license fee for RouteSavvy is $300 per year. The RouteSavvy Tracker add-on license costs $500 per year for up to 10 phones. Additional phones cost $50 per year.
"GPS fleet tracking traditionally costs $20-$50 per vehicle per month, costing small fleets thousands of dollars per year, plus the cost of hardware, for a typical fleet tracking system," said Steve Milroy, president. "In contrast, RouteSavvy GPS Tracker costs roughly $4 per vehicle per month with no extra hardware required. Our innovative, new, affordable approach to fleet tracking finally allows smaller fleets to gain the functionality of fleet tracking with one of the lowest prices on the market per year, low upfront costs that don’t include installing hardware in every vehicle, and fast ROI."
