North Carolina Gov. Roy Cooper has signed into law a new ride-hailing bill that is poised to increase the safety of riders and drivers, WFAE reports.
The bill, which passed the General Assembly unanimously last month, makes impersonating a ride-hailing driver a crime. It also increasing the penalty for assaulting a real ride-hailing driver.
The law mandates that all ride-hailing vehicles have front license tag numbers beginning in October. Additionally, by next summer, all ride-hailing vehicles must display their company logo clearly day and night.
