Reflecting the growing presence of the Chinese-owned MG brand in the UK thanks to its electric range of models and keen pricing, Geraint Isaac has been promoted to a new role as head of fleet sales for MG Motor, effective October 01, 2021.
Previously the firm’s national fleet sales manager, Isaac has been tasked with working with the MG dealer network to expand the company’s presence with major fleet operators, both user chooser and essential needs company car fleets.
He retains his responsibilities for vehicle remarketing, residual values and co-ordinating MG’s dealer fleet programmes and continues to be supported by a regional fleet sales manager and public sector & leasing manager.
Commenting on his new role, Isaac said:
“As the UK’s fastest growing mainstream car brand and a leader in electric vehicles, MG has never been better placed to really grow its presence in the fleet market and in my new role I’m really keen to leverage those opportunities, making the most of new models including the MG5 EV and MG HS Plug-In Hybrid to boost MG’s appeal in both the core fleet and user-chooser markets, where low rates of company car tax and zero emissions are big selling points.”
MG Motor has been making spectacular sales progress in the UK. At the end of August it had already beaten its 2020 registrations with a 65% year-on-year growth, while 2020 has seen sales rise 41% over 2019 registrations, admittedly from a low base. Nevertheless, the company now holds 1.6% market share according to industry body SMMT figures, the same as Mazda.
Isaac is an experienced fleet operator, having joined the MG Motor brand in 2019 after more than eight years with Hyundai’s fleet operation and before that four years with Vauxhall in fleet and business sales.
Guy Pigounakis, MG Motor commercial director, added: “Geraint has already done a terrific job in raising awareness of MG in the fleet market and in securing some key deals for the brand. In his new role, we look forward to him developing those relationships and increasing MG’s visibility in the fleet market even further.”
