VIDEO: Distracted Driving --- An Accident Waiting to Happen

The CEI Group Inc., a leading fleet accident management and driver safety company, is reaching out to its more than 100,000 DriverCare fleet customer drivers with a high-impact video warning about the dangers distracted driving.

The video is the latest addition to the company’s library of driving safety lessons and videos available through the DriverCare fleet safety and risk management service.  The video was released in recognition of “Distracted Driving Awareness Month.” 

The five-minute production, “Distracted Driving: An Accident Waiting to Happen,” tells the tragic story of Casey Feldman, a 21-year-old college senior who was killed by a distracted driver in Ocean City, N.J., in 2009. She was simply walking across an intersection to her summer job. The video also incorporates footage from Distraction.gov featuring interviews with Feldman’s mother and friends. Some of the friends admit they’ve also driven distracted in the past. “What will it take to change the way we drive?” Casey’s mournful mother asks.

Brian Kinniry, CEI’s senior manager of risk and safety services, opens the video with an appeal to prevent distracted driving. 

The video was produced by CEI Studios, a new unit at the company’s headquarters in Trevose, Pa. The video production unit provides customized video content for CEI customers. 

“Having this new video production capability is making a real difference for our customers,” Kinniry said. “There’s no doubt that driver compliance increases when you provide customized content that speaks directly to them in their workplace.”
