The Network of Employers for Traffic Safety (NETS) is hosting a conference on the challenges of driver safety in Latin America, and how multinational fleet managers can best address them.
NETS’ Regional Satellite Conference in Latin America will feature speakers from a number of fields, including NETS member organizations that operate in the region, local road safety advocates, government officials, and members of the Latin America New Car Assessment Program (NCAP), according to NETS.
This is the first event of its kind from NETS, and will include a variety of road safety initiatives and challenges specific to the region.
Over 150,000 fatalities occur in the Region of the Americas each year representing 12% of the road traffic deaths worldwide, according to the World Health Organization. In Costa Rica, more than 70% of traffic-related deaths in 2017 involved pedestrians, cyclists, or motorcycle drivers, according to the Communications Center of the General Directorate of Traffic Police.
The conference will be hosted at InterContinental Hotel in San Jose, Costa Rica, April 2 to 3, 2019. Conference registration and additional hotel information will be available soon at www.trafficsafety.org.
