Nebraska Automates its Motor Pool Dispatch
The State of Nebraska Transportation Services Bureau is automating the dispatch of its motor pool vehicles so various state agencies can reserve vehicles over the Internet. Dennis Johnk, administrator for the state’s Transportation Services Bureau, said representatives of the various agencies currently must fill out paper forms and bring them to the dispatch office to order vehicles for day-to-day use. With the new system, the agencies will be able to make reservations over the Internet. “It will calculate miles, and give them a bill, and we’ll put it into our billing system, which saves manpower for us,” said Johnk, who oversees 1,200 vehicles. He said the system would be completed some time in June.
