Murphy-Hoffman Company Recognized for Reducing Collisions by 36%
Large heavy and medium duty truck network captures Green Cross for Safety award from NSC.

The National Safety Council has given its 2021 Green Cross for Safety award to Murphy-Hoffman Company, the largest privately-owned heavy- and medium-duty truck network in North America.
With a fleet of more than 840 vehicles, Murphy-Hoffman won the award in the Safety Excellence category, beating out two close contenders — Berry Corporation and United States Steel Corporation.
Presented at NSC’s 22nd annual Green Cross Celebration, the truck network earned the honor based on a proven track record for boosting driver safety. In 2014, Murphy-Hoffman developed a comprehensive vehicle safety program to equip employees with the skills to keep themselves and others safe while driving. The champion of the program is Corporate Safety Manager, Clint Brocato, according to NSC.
The initiative resulted in an astounding 36% decrease in preventable collisions. In addition, since 2014, the program has decreased the top five coachable driving behaviors by 57% on average; increased the number of employee Safe Driver Award winners by 95%; and, decreased liability costs by 78%.
The achievement is all the more impressive considering Murphy-Hoffman Company is not a traditional over-the-road carrier, so employees did not initially view themselves as professional drivers, despite the fact that some average over 50,000 miles per year on company business. Murphy-Hoffman delivers parts and provides mobile maintenance across the country.
