Toyota's 2019 Tundra pickup has been ranked at the top of an insurance company's list of the most affordable pickups to insure in California.
Other trucks that made Mercury Insurance's top five included Ford's 2019 Ranger midsize pickup, the 2020 GMC Sierra 3500 and 2020 GMC Sierra 2500, as well as the 2019 Ford F-150. The rest of the list included the 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 1500, 2019 Toyota Tacoma, 2019 Ram 3500, 2019 Ram 1500, and 2019 Ram 2500.
The trucks were ranked based on Mercury's full coverage, including liability, comprehensive, and collision.
"Owning a pickup truck is more attractive to buyers than ever before, and auto manufacturers are making it easier to get a dependable truck without sacrificing the comfort and features cars offer," said Chong Gao, senior product manager, R&D for Mercury Insurance. "This list will help inform your decision if you’re in the market for a truck, because oftentimes, insurance costs aren’t top-of-mind until you’re almost ready to drive off the lot."
