A deserving local charity known as Wichita’s Littlest Heroes recently stood in front of hundreds of auto dealers at Mid Kansas Auto Auction (MKSAA) -- a family owned, dealer-only auction facility --  to receive a donation check for over $13,580, the auction announced Aug. 1.

The Mid Kansas sales team raised the proceeds at the regional auto auction after collecting pledges from the auto dealers who sold cars at MKSAA’s annual Helping Hands Sale. “We created this special benefit sale to give our dealers the opportunity to do something big for deserving families,” said Nicole Ottley, marketing director for MKSAA, in a news release. “Our sales team works hard to round up pledges from our dealers, who contribute a portion of their sale fees during that week’s sale. And on top of that, Mid Kansas Auto Auction donated $5 for every car sold that day.”

Only in its second year, the Helping Hands Sale proceeds went from $3,200 in 2021 to more than $13,500 in 2022. “This speaks to the generosity of our dealers, and also to the important work being done by Wichita’s Littlest Heroes,” Ottley added. “It’s a cause that everyone wants to get behind.”

Wichita’s Littlest Heroes provides hope and happiness for over 500+ Kansas families with one or more children fighting life threatening medical diagnoses. The charity was founded in 2014 by Brianna Baskerville, whose son was diagnosed with a rare and life threatening auto immune disease.

“One night after one of my son’s treatments, God spoke to me and gave me the vision for Wichita’s Littlest Heroes,” Baskerville said. “No matter what the diagnosis is, fighting a life-threatening medical battle is hard, and we help parents and kids form relationships and bonds to make that journey a little easier.”
