HOOKSETT, NH - Merchants Automotive Group announced it has appointed Robert Singer as President. Robert Singer succeeds his brother, Stephen Singer, who retired December 31, 2011 after 40 years with Merchants.

Robert Singer began his involvement in the business 43 years ago, according to the company. Merchants stated that his vision and drive have played a major role in the aggressive and profitable growth of Merchants Automotive Group. Under his guidance, Merchants has grown from 60 used vehicles in 1962 to the 10th largest fleet management company in the U.S., managing more than 15,000 units, the company stated. Singer acted as the syndicating agent and key force in effectively broadening the financial base of the multi-million dollar corporation to currently involve nine banks.

Robert Singer continues to actively contribute in the day-to-day business of the corporation, directly handling numerous national accounts for Merchants, managing a large portfolio, and continuing to play an important role in risk management insurance initiatives, the company stated. Appointed President, he plans to continue best-in-class excellence with a commitment to the employees and, most importantly, Merchants’ valued clients, according to the company.
