Managing a safe, compliant fleet means staying on top of the latest vehicle recalls. Automotive Fleet has compiled an overview of May 2025 recalls issued by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) to help identify which ones may impact fleet operations.

Recalls are grouped by manufacturers and are listed alphabetically.

Ford

Recall Number: 25V314

  • Vehicles: 2022-2024 Lincoln Navigator and Ford Expedition.

  • Potential Units Affected: 273,789

  • Component: Service Brakes, Hydraulic

  • Breakdown: The front brake lines may contact the engine air cleaner outlet pipe and become damaged, possibly resulting in a brake fluid leak and a loss of front brake function.

  • Solution: Dealers will inspect the front brake line and replace the brake line or air cleaner outlet pipe, as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed on May 26, 2025.

Recall Number: 25V271

  • Vehicles: 2025 Ford F-150

  • Potential Units Affected: 326

  • Component: Equipment

  • Breakdown: The airbag warning label may be missing from the dashboard.

  • Solution: Ford will mail the warning labels to the owners free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on May 7, 2025.

Recall Number: 25V272

  • Vehicles: 2023 Ford F-150 Lightning BEV

  • Potential Units Affected: 3

  • Component: Electrical System

  • Breakdown: The fasteners that secure the junction box bus bars inside the high-voltage battery pack may not have been tightened securely, which can cause electrical arcing at the busbars.

  • Solution: Dealers will inspect and repair the busbar fasteners and replace any damaged components as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed on May 19, 2025.

General Motors

Recall Number: 25V274

  • Vehicles: 2021-2024 Cadillac Escalade and Escalade ESV, Chevrolet Silverado 1500, Suburban, and Tahoe, GMC Sierra 1500, Yukon, and Yukon XL.

  • Potential Units Affected: 597,571

  • Component: Engine and Engine Cooling

  • Breakdown: The recall pertains to vehicles with a 6.2L V8 gas engine. The connecting rod and/or crankshaft engine components may have manufacturing defects that can lead to engine damage and engine failure.

  • Solution: Dealers will inspect the engine and, as necessary, repair or replace it. For vehicles that pass inspection, dealers will add higher viscosity oil, install a new oil fill cap, replace the oil filter, and update the owner’s manual. Repairs will be performed free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed on June 9, 2025.

Hyundai

Recall Number: 25V291

  • Vehicles: 2025 Hyundai Palisade

  • Potential Units Affected: 620

  • Component: Powertrain

  • Breakdown: An insufficient seal on the controller for the electric oil pump may allow moisture to accumulate in the printed circuit board, which can cause an electrical short and result in a fire.

  • Solution: Owners are advised to park their vehicles outside and away from structures until the recall remedy is completed. Dealers will replace the electric oil pump controller, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed on July 4, 2025.

Polestar

Recall Number: 25V280

  • Vehicles: Polestar 2

  • Potential Units Affected: 27,816

  • Component: Back Over Prevention

  • Breakdown: The rearview camera image may not display when the vehicle is placed in reverse.

  • Solution: Dealers will update the vehicle software, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed on June 19, 2025.

Recall Number: 25V293

  • Vehicles: Polestar 3

  • Potential Units Affected: 3,664

  • Component: Back Over Prevention

  • Breakdown: The rearview camera image may not display when the vehicle is placed in reverse.

  • Solution: The software will be updated by a dealer or through an over-the-air (OTA) update, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed on July 1, 2025.

Volkswagen

Recall Number: 25V269

  • Vehicles: 2025 Volkswagen ID. Buzz

  • Potential Units Affected: 5,637

  • Component: Seats

  • Breakdown: The third-row rear bench is wide enough for three passengers, but is designed for two passengers and equipped with two seat belts.

  • Solution: Dealers will install trim to adjust the width of the third-row rear seats, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed on June 20, 2025.

Volvo

Recall Number: 25V282

  • Vehicles: 2021-2025 XC40, 2022 V90, 2022-2025 S90, V90CC, C40, XC60, 2023-2025 S60, V60, V60CC, XC90, and 2025 EC40 and EX40.

  • Potential Units Affected: 413,151

  • Component: Back Over Prevention

  • Breakdown: The rearview camera image may not display when the vehicle is placed in reverse.

  • Solution: The software will be updated by a dealer or through an over-the-air (OTA) update, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed on June 24, 2025.
