Fleet registrations in Iceland we up 10.5% year-to-date, despite the total market showing a decline of 15.8% due in part to declining passenger vehicle registrations.

Hyundai is the leading automaker for fleet registrations so far this year, which was driven by strong months in April and May, according to Dataforce. The automaker’s most popular models were the i10 and i20, which accounted for almost 78% of Hyundai’s registrations in the country.  This was followed by Volkswagen in second, which saw a 68% growth so far this year and was aided by sales of the Polo in the small car segment.

This was followed by Toyota in third, Skoda in fourth, and Renaults in fifth. The popularity of mini and small cars in spring limited the growth of the SUV segment, but this trend shifted in September and October, reports Dataforce.

The Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV was the top compact SUV in the market, and the share of hybrids increased and reached 13.6%. Meanwhile, battery-electric vehicles achieved a 3.8% share of registrations in the fleet market, which is lower than the same period of time last year. The leading EV for the segment was the Nissan Leaf.
