Hyundai Motor America has established the direct order entry feature to provide fleet management companies and other commercial buyers a more streamlined ordering process, according to the automaker.
The move will help Hyundai gain greater acceptance in the commercial fleet market because it puts the automaker on par with other tenured OEMs, said Richard Pipenhagen, Hyundai's corporate sales manager. Hyundai commercial introduced the process in late summer.
The direct order entry process allows fleet buyers to order Hyundai vehicles by submitting orders under a pre-set dealer partner code. Hyundai has also made other advancements to pursue commercial fleet sales by launching a fully functional fleet website and offering a nationwide demo program to provide fleet users a first-hand experience with their products.
"These are all essential and expected features and touch points that all FMCs and end-users require in order to be perceived as a viable OEM partner in the commercial/corporate space," said Pipenhagen. "These items along with building comprehensive infrastructure and strong hiring practices have made us competitive and appealing."
Hyundai Motor America also offers a Competitive Price Allowance (CPA) program as a secondary incentive for volume committed fleet purchases.
In 2013, fleets registered 101,527 Hyundai vehicles, mostly in the rental segment. The Hyundai Sonata was the automaker's leading fleet vehicle.
