Hyundai Australia Chooses Provider to Support Technology Strategy

Hyundai Motor Company Australia has chosen Nutanix to support its “Virtual First” strategy. The automaker has implemented a Nutanix Virtual Computing Platform to support its VMware Virtual Desktop Interface environment as it continues to focus on increasing staff productivity, accelerating workflow, and reducing costs.
The Hyundai head office is located in Sydney and there are branches in New South Wales, Queensland, Victoria, South Australia, and Western Australia. With more than 50 percent of its 200 staff working in the field, Hyundai has embraced company-wide virtualization as the high percentage of Hyundai’s staff working in the field was continuing to have a negative impact on the company’s workflows, according to automaker.
“Our IT strategy is based on a ‘virtual first’ rule,” said Bala Kothandaraman, general manager, Information and Communication Technology, Hyundai Motor Company Australia. ‘’We have two in-house applications in particular that are integral to our business processes – the purchase order system and invoicing, but getting sign-off on individual requests was taking up to 10 days with so many people out of the office on a regular basis.”
Hyundai was introduced to Nutanix by its IT services provider, BEarena, said Kawa Farid, Infrastructure Manager, Information and Communication Technology, Hyundai Motor Company Australia.
Wayne Neich, Managing Director, Australia and New Zealand, Nutanix, said many companies were moving to VDI as they looked to accommodate more mobile workers and staff working from home.
“Irrespective of where they’re being used, the applications still have to perform at the right level. Mobile workers should have the same computing experience whether they were using a smart phone from their car, a notebook computer from home or an office computer,” Neich said.
