House Leaders Introduce Infrastructure Plan
House leaders have unveiled a comprehensive infrastructure plan that would invest $760 billion over five years in the nation’s roads, bridges, transit systems, railways, airports, and more.

Known as the Moving Froward Framework, the initiative aims to bolster the federal role in helping communities around the country undertake transformative projects.

House leaders have unveiled a comprehensive infrastructure plan that would invest $760 billion over five years in the nation’s roads, bridges, transit systems, railways, airports, and more, according to Roads & Bridges.
Known as the Moving Froward Framework, the initiative aims to bolster the federal role in helping communities around the country undertake transformative projects.
Supporters of the plan say it will bring existing infrastructure into a state of good repair and enable the completion of critical projects through long-term, sustainable funding. A key objective is prioritizing the safety of the traveling public.
The National Safety Council released a statement today noting that the number of roadway deaths in the U.S. have remained persistently high year over year. For example, 5000 more people died in crashes in 2016 than in 2011.
Moreover, traffic fatalities on U.S. roadways reached an estimated 40,000 in 2018—the third consecutive year in which at least that many people lost their lives in vehicle collisions.
The Council believes strong laws and improved infrastructure are crucial elements to reducing and preventing future injuries and fatalities on the roadways, and the group supports the safety provisions in the Moving Forward Framework.
