ARLINGTON, VA – The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) announced that three GM vehicles, the GMC Acadia, Buick Enclave, and Chevrolet Traverse, and the Honda Odyssey, are the 2011 Top Safety Pick winners. All vehicles earned good ratings for front, side, and rear crash protection.
The IIHS stated that the Acadia’s roof withstood a force equal to four times its weight and the Odyssey a force equal to five times its weight. The Top Safety Pick award applies to GM vehicles made after January 2011 due to roof strength changes the automaker made.
