GM Recalls 3.4M Pickups, Large SUVs for Brake Issue
General Motors is recalling more than 3.45 million of its large SUVs and trucks, including the Cadillac Escalade, Chevrolet Silverado, GMC Sierra, Chevrolet Suburban, Chevrolet Tahoe, and GMC Yukon for a braking issue, according to federal records.

General Motors is recalling more than 3.45 million of its large SUVs and trucks, including the 2015 to 2017 Cadillac Escalade, 2014 to 2018 Chevrolet Silverado 1500, GMC Sierra 1500, as well as 2015 to 2018 Chevrolet Suburban, Chevrolet Tahoe, and GMC Yukon for a braking issue, according to federal records.
Specifically, the amount of vacuum created by the vacuum pump may decrease over time. This, in turn, means the brake assist decreases, increasing the braking effort and extending the distance required to stop the vehicle, which increases the likelihood of a collision.
To fix the problem, GM will notify owners, and dealers will reprogram the electronic brake control module, at no cost to owners.
The automaker has not yet provided a notification schedule.
