General Motors has appointed two executives to lead operations in Southeast Asia, including Thailand. Both appointments were effective as of March 1.
Tim Zimmerman, 49, takes over as president of GM Southeast Asia Operations. He will be responsible for GM's expanding operations in the region and be based at the new Singapore headquarters of GM International Operations (GMIO).
Marcos Purty, 42, has been appointed managing director of GM Thailand and Chevrolet Sales Thailand. He will lead GM's operations in Thailand and be based at GM Thailand’s headquarters in Bangkok.
"Tim and Marcos are two experienced industry professionals with a great knowledge of the business, particularly on the sales side," said Stefan Jacoby, executive vice president and president of GMIO. "They will lead the growth of GM’s business, including the Chevrolet brand, across Southeast Asia, where GM is focused on becoming a leader."
Zimmerman will succeed Jim DeLuca, who has been leading GM's Southeast Asia Operations on an interim basis. DeLuca was recently appointed GM's executive vice president of global manufacturing.
Zimmerman comes to GM from PSA Peugeot Citroen, where he has worked since 1986 in vehicle and parts sales, marketing and management in the United Kingdom, France, the Netherlands, and China. His most recent post was managing director of Peugeot Motor Co. in the United Kingdom.
Purty joined GM as a member of the College Graduate In-Training Program in 1994. He has held several engineering and manufacturing positions in North America and Asia Pacific. Purty most recently was president director of GM Indonesia, where he led the renovation of the Bekasi manufacturing facility and the expansion of sales in the market.
