Toyota made a surprise debut of a brand new commercial vehicle at the Commercial Vehicle Show at Birmingham UK’s National Exhibition Centre, running August 31 to September 02, 2021.
The car-derived van - the Toyota Corolla Commercial - will be built at Toyota's UK manufacturing facility in Burnaston, Derbyshire.
Based on the Corolla Touring Sports 1.8 Hybrid, the van has the rear seats removed for a flat load bay while the rear windows have been blacked out. Featuring hybrid technology, the van will offer efficient running costs and will be able to run in zero emission mode up to 15mph.
Toyota estimates fuel economy will be between 55.3–62.7mpg although few other details concerning load space have been published yet as the van has yet to be homologated.

Pricing for the van, which is scheduled to go on sale in summer 2022, will be around the £22,134 mark says Toyota, with the UK being the first on-sale market.
Mark Roden, Toyota (GB) operations director, said:
“With its full hybrid powertrain, Corolla Commercial will give customers an exceptionally versatile vehicle that can be driven with zero emissions and fuel consumption during short urban runs while also giving the freedom to make longer journeys without the need for battery recharging. Toyota’s hybrid technology has well-proven reliability and delivers day-to-day savings on running costs with its fuel efficiency. It’s a unique addition to the Toyota Professional range and the wider LCV market and we’re confident it will attract strong interest.”
The Toyota Professional commercial vehicle range has been expanding rapidly. There is now:
Proace,
Proace City,
Land Cruiser Commercial and
Toyota Hilux.
The range also includes the Proace Electric medium van, while later this year the Proace City Electric small van will also boost the number of Toyot’s fully electric vans available to fleets.
