General Motors has partnered with a construction firm toward the development of electric vehicle fast-charging stations in the U.S., according to Reuters.

GM and Bechtel plan on producing thousands of charging stations across the United States and will create a new company that will develop the network of chargers, according to CNN.

The announcement follows several announcements General Motors previously made regarding efforts toward electric vehicle. Earlier this month, GM said it had plans to introduce a battery-electric pickup, and later announced plans to invest $300 million at one of its plants outside of Detroit to produce a new battery-electric vehicle at the same plant that builds the Chevrolet Bolt EV and Chevrolet Sonic

Both companies are seeking investors that will fund the project.
