EDEN PRAIRIE, MN – GE Capital Solutions Fleet Services hosted a free online seminar Dec. 2 on the topic: "Navigating the Energy Environment. What's Next? Fuel Outlook and Impact to Your Bottom Line in 2009."
The online seminar attracted more than 170 attendees and the topic of economic uncertainty and its impact on fuel prices drew large interest, according to the company. Kevin Lindemer, executive managing director energy practice of Global Insight Inc., was the keynote speaker.
Lindemer discussed the price outlook for crude oil, gasoline, and diesel for the next 12-18 months and the next five years. He also tackled the subject of alternative fuels and their implications to the fleet vehicle market.
GE Capital Solutions Fleet Services' fuel product manager, Kate Wesley, shared with attendees GE's fuel strategy for managing fuel costs in today's tough environment. Operating a strong fuel program is a key factor in strategic fleet management, according to Wesley. The data gained regarding fuel consumption, miles per gallon benchmarks, driver identification, and purchasing behaviors can make a difference in every aspect of the fleet including maintenance, vehicle cycling, personal usage, fraud prevention, and emissions standards.
GE's online seminar allowed attendees to interact directly with speakers by submitting their questions during the seminar. GE reported positive feedback from the online seminar, with survey results showing more than 97 percent of attendees were very satisfied/satisfied with the information received during the seminar.
GE Capital Solutions Fleet Services plans to host several online seminars in 2009.
