GE Capital Fleet Services has unveiled an application specifically designed to enhance fleets with bailment pool vehicles. According to customer J.J. Keig, fleet administrator for RentWay, the new online bailment reassignment tool allows customers to address the assignment of pool vehicles later in the process, and provides improved speed and accuracy. Kelly Ly, GE Capital Fleet Services’ e-commerce manager, said that prior to the development of the online bailment application, fleet managers were required to reassign each vehicle manually by submitting spreadsheets or driver reassignments via fax, a labor-intensive and time-consuming process. “Now, fleet managers create a single order on the Web for a pool of upfit cars or trucks, whether it’s 200 or 1,000 vehicles,” Ly said. “We confirm their request and automatically convert the single order into multiple purchase orders with the manufacturer. Once the orders are placed, fleet managers can reassign their vehicles to specific drivers when they are ready to do so, eliminating the need to submit manual spreadsheets or reports for each reassignment,” RentWay’s Keig noted the advantages of the online bailment application, such as less processing time, greater accuracy, versatility in management and reporting, as well as ease of use. “This project goes beyond an enhancement,” Keig said. “It’s a quantum leap towards empowering fleet managers with pool vehicles by giving them the ability to manage the entire process almost effortlessly.”
