The average price for a gallon of unleaded gasoline increased 1.9 cents to $2.337 per gallon for the week ending Oct. 12, according to federal data.
The price of gasoline is now 87 cents lower than it was a year ago, as five of the nine regions tracked by the U.S. Department of Energy saw slight increases during the week. Prices continued to fall in the New England, Rocky Mountain, and West Coast regions. The sharpest increase came in the Midwest, where the price increased 5.3 cents to $2.405.
