The average price of a gallon of unleaded gasoline fell four-tenths of a cent to $2.318 for the week ending Oct. 5, according to federal records.
The national gasoline average price is now 98.1 cents lower than it was a year ago. The price was mixed among the 10 regions tracked by the U.S. Department of Energy with seven regions down and three up. The sharpest decline came in the Rocky Mountain region where the price fell 6.2 cents to $2.477. The biggest increase came in the Midwest where it rose 2.7 cents to $2.352.
