Gary Meteer Named GM's Director of Medium-Duty Dealer Development
Gary Meteer, formerly the director of sales improvement initiatives for GM Fleet and Commercial Operations, has been named director of medium-duty dealer development. The announcement was made by David A. Hansen, general manager, GM Fleet and Commercial Operations. Meteer will work closely with General Motors Isuzu Commercial Truck (GMICT), GM Fleet and Commercial Operations, and GM Dealer Network Planning and Investment to further strengthen GM’s medium-duty dealer marketing and distribution channels. Focusing to increase its market share in the medium-duty truck segment, GM will launch the GMT560 during the 2002 calendar year. The GMT560 includes GMC and Chevrolet trucks. Ex-panding on the previous generation’s best-in-class customer satisfaction ratings, the new GMT560 models feature improvements in visibility and maneuverability with an expanded and upgraded powertrain lineup. In September 2000, American Isuzu Motors Inc. (AIMI) and General Motors Corp. (GM) announced a joint venture to begin to consolidate Isuzu and General Motors medium-duty commercial vehicle sales, service and support functions in the United States. The new company, General Motors Isuzu Commercial Truck, LLC (GMICT), was designed to better meet dealer and customer needs to ensure long-term growth and profitability in the medium-duty commercial vehicle segment. In addition, James McCallum, will assume Meteer’s responsibilities for special sales improvement initiatives. This new assignment will be added to McCallum’s current position as the director of global and dealer operations.
