Ford Otosan is investing $52 million toward one of its manufacturing facilities in Turkey to increase the output of Transit, Transit Custom, and Toruneo Custom vehicles for the European commercial fleet market.
Ford Otosan, the joint venture between Ford and Koç Holding, an industrial conglomerate company, is looking increase output of these vehicles by 12%, which would lead to an overall production of 330,000 units per year, according to The News Wheel.
The increase of capacity is expected to being in September 2018.
This announcement was made less than a month after Ford Otosan shutdown another one of its production plants in Turkey. The joint venture shut down its production for its plant in Yenkikoy in late July due to a supply shortage of a transmission known as IB5 produced in France, according to Bloomberg.
The transmission is being replaced by a modern transmission known as the MX65, which will also be implemented into a new version of the Ford Fiesta.
