Ford announced that Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) will be standard on all 2018 Ford Escape models from September 2018 in New Zealand.
Previously, AEB was only available on flagship models, but entry-level SUVs such as the Escape Ambiente will be outfitted with the system for the first time.
The addition comes as the Ford Escape ST-Line joins the SUV line-up in September 2018.
“Safety is a top priority for New Zealanders and they now look and require for high levels of equipment in their vehicles,” says Simon Rutherford, Ford New Zealand managing director. “The Escape joins the new 2018 Mustang as having AEB standard, and we’ve also announced AEB will be available on soon-to-arrive models including the 2019 Everest as well as the 2019 Ranger, Transit Custom and the all-new Focus.”
The Escape ST-Line features suspension with lowered ride-height by 10mm, retuned steering, and thicker anti-roll bars for reduced body roll.
The new Escape also has a number of Driver Assist Technology features such as Smart Keyless Entry, front parking sensors, Enhanced Active Park Assist, Blind Spot Information System, Adaptive Cruise Control, and more. It comes standard with Intelligent-All-Wheel Drive and sports a 2.0L EcoBoost four-cylinder and six-speed paddleshift automatic.
