Ford announced on Oct. 29, 2001 it has extended its “Ford Drives America” program through Tuesday, Nov. 20. The program offers consumers 36-month, zero-percent financing on most 2001 and 2002 Ford brand cars, trucks, SUVs, and minivans. “Customer response has been fantastic and has increased our vehicles sales,” said Jim O'Connor, president of Ford Division. “Extending this program is a short-term action that will continue our sales momentum.” Effective Nov. 1-20, the program extension will exclude the Escape and will increase the 48- and 60-month rates on 2001 cars and the 2002 Mustang. As an alternative to the financing option, consumers still can choose the current cash back or leasing options being offered. “Ford Drives America,” announced on Sept. 20, was previously scheduled to expire Oct. 31. Toyota also has extended its zero-percent financing program through the end of November on the Corolla, Tundra, and 4Runner, said Toyota National Manager, Communications Joe Tetherow.
