Feds Ask Mitsubishi to Verify Fuel Economy for U.S. Cars
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has asked Mitsubishi Motors to perform additional testing on models it sells in the U.S. market, after the company admitted to inflating the ratings for several Japanese models.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has asked Mitsubishi Motors to perform additional testing on models it sells in the U.S. market, after the company admitted to inflating the ratings for several Japanese models, reports the Associated Press.
On April 20, the company admitted to manipulating fuel economy data for 625,000 models sold in Japan, including the Nissan Dayz that was produced for Nissan Motor. Nissan uncovered the tampering.
Mitsubishi offered five models in the U.S. for the 2016 model year, including the Mirage, i-Miev, Lancer, Outlander Sport, and Outlander. For the 2017 model year, Mitsubishi will introduce a plug-in hybrid version of the Outlander mid-size SUV.
