ITASCA, IL- EMKAY Incorporated has concluded their 2010 EMKAY for the Earth Charity Event. The event was a combination of the company's "Bring Your Children to Work" day and focus on the 40th Anniversary of National Earth Day.
On April 22, 2010, Earth Day, EMKAY held their annual "Bring Your Children to Work Day." While the children were at the world headquarters, they not only learned about the importance of goals and aspirations when it comes to their future, but also the importance of our planet's future. The children decorated reusable canvas grocery bags made from recycled plastic bottles and cotton while they learned about sustainability and the impact it can have on their future from EMKAY's in-house "green team".
These bags symbolized the simplicity of saving the planet one small step at a time. The children decorated two separate totes, one for them, and one for EMKAY's charity event. EMKAY has since then, auctioned off these tiny treasures to the highest bidder with all monies being donated to the national non-profit organization, the Nature Conservancy. In combination of the donations from the bag art auction and the EMKAY matched contribution they raised $2,000 for supporting the longevity of planet earth. This contribution will aid the Nature Conservancy to be able to do more to protect nature and preserve the world today and for future generations.
Within EMKAY's Corporate Citizenship and Eco Responsibility Initiatives the entire EMKAY team thanked everyone who has so generously participated in this event.
