DHL Express has introduced the battery-electric Volkswagen e-Golf to its fleet in Dubai for deliveries and collections.

The e-Golf, which offers 134 hp running on a 100 kW AC electric motor, will navigate specifically throughout areas with a reputation of high volume traffic, according to Construction Business News.

This announcement reflects the company’s goal of achieving a zero emission target by 2050, according to Middle East Utilities. The company’s goal is to increase carbon efficiency by 50%, operate 70% of pick-up and delivery services with clean solutions, and generate more than 50% of sales from products and services incorporating alt-fuel solutions.

Able to handle DHL duties in the United Arab Emirates market, the e-Golf has the capacity to complete a 155 mile journey operating on a single charge, as-well-as boasting advanced endurance capabilities when exposed to extreme, warm weather climates, according to Arabian Industry.
