Company Employing Driver Who Caused Deadly Motorcycle Crash Had History of Violations

Volodoymyr Zhukovskyy was the driver of the pickup truck involved in the accident that killed seven members of a motorcycle club. His employer, Springfield, Mass.-based Westfield Transport, has a history of unsafe driving, hour of service, and vehicle maintenance violations.

A 23-year-old man is being held by authorities and charged with negligent manslaughter after he struck a New Hampshire motorcycle club leaving seven dead and three injured.

According to Western Mass. News, the New Hampshire Attorney General’s office reported Volodoymyr Zhukovskyy was arrested Monday morning at his west Springfield home on a fugitive from justice charge. Mass. State Police spokesperson, David Procopio, added they found wax packets in his home.

Despite not being charged with a drug offense at this time, the residue from the wax packets is being tested at a State Police lab. If found to be an illegal substance more charges may be filed, reported Western Mass. News.

The victims, all between the ages of 42 and 62, were members of a motorcycle club called the Marine Jarheads, a New England motorcycle club that includes Marines and their spouses.

Zhukovskyy is an employee of Westfield Transport based in Springfield, Mass. Western Mass. News, has since uncovered several violations against the trucking company since the incident, including being cited for speeding and failure to maintain their lane.

The company also has 14-hours of service compliance violations. In addition, 31 vehicle maintenance violations, including windshield obstruction and not having fire extinguishers present.

Amongst the plethora of violations, the company also has two controlled substances and alcohol violations.

Zhukovskyy has been stripped of his driver’s licenses including his commercial license which have all been officially suspended on Monday.
