A study by the Institute of Driving and Traffic Research (IDTR) has found that commercial drivers in Uttarakhand, India, work under harsh conditions, according to the Times of India.
The study found the average monthly income of more than 69% commercial drivers make less than Rs 8000 (US$116), and only 10.65% of drivers make Rs 12,000 (US$174). The study also revealed 64% of drivers drive under stressful conditions for up to 10 hours a day, and 14% are required to drive more than 14 hours a day, according to the times report.
