VIENNA, VA -- The Network of Employers for Traffic Safety (NETS) announced that Coca-Cola has joined the organization's board of directors.

Coca-Cola operates a large worldwide fleet in over 200 countries, giving the company a global perspective that the board will value, NETS said.

"At Coca-Cola, we believe our first responsibility is to promote the safety of our employees and of the people in the communities we serve," said Chris Reh, director of occupational safety and health at the Coca-Cola Co. "By joining the NETS Board of Directors, we will further our fleet safety efforts throughout the Coca-Cola system as we work with other leading organizations in the exchange of best practices and ideas to advance road safety worldwide."

"Coca-Cola will bring a tremendous track record of corporate responsibility and fleet safety to the NETS board," added Bill Windsor, NETS board chairman. "Coca-Cola will complement the other NETS board members in supporting the organization's goal of enhancing road safety."

Members of the NETS Board of Directors are public- and private-sector leaders who have demonstrated a strong commitment to road safety. They are senior-level executives who promote NETS' mission and represent businesses and organizations that have created a solid safety culture by promoting traffic safety policies.

NETS provides a forum for experienced traffic safety professionals to exchange ideas and collaborate on emerging issues.

Coca-Cola joins current board members Abbott, AmeriFleet Transportation, Chubb Group of Insurance Companies, Johnson & Johnson, Liberty Mutual Insurance Group, Monsanto Co., Nationwide Mutual Insurance Group and UPS. Representatives from NIOSH and NHTSA are board member liaisons to the federal government.
